Our verdictThe qualification rarely moves pay on its own. The role does.
Pay follows responsibility, and responsibility follows what you can be trusted with. An MBA can be the thing that makes you eligible for a bigger role — but it is the role that pays, not the certificate.
What to check
- Ask what specifically is blocking the bigger role. If the answer is a qualification, this works.
- If the answer is experience or visibility, the two years are better spent on those.
- Run the arithmetic: what the programme costs against what the raise would actually be.
